Northeast Campus Sustainability Coalition (NECSC)
Established in October 2004, NECSC represents more than 40 institutions of higher education from the northeast U.S. and eastern Canadian provinces - Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.
The NECSC pursues the goals of the DESD in a coordinated effort to advance sustainability through integrated education efforts aimed at individuals and institutions at all levels of education, with a particular emphasis on higher education. The NECSC responds to the DESD Draft Implementation Plan’s call for efforts to focus on networks and alliances at the local, regional, national and international levels. Main Event: Campus Sustainability Indicators Annual Gathering. Steering committee with reps from 14 states and provinces.

Associated Colleges of the South (ACS) – Environmental Initiative

The ACS includes 16 private schools across the Southeast. The mission of the Environmental Initiative is to foster collaboration in environmental studies and activities among faculty, staff, and students at ACS member institutions. The initiative aims to raise the level of environmental consciousness at each institution. It supports an environmental liaison team of students, faculty and staff at each campus, and inter-institutional programs, including three alliances that focus on academic and extracurricular environmental issues.

Southeast Group
A loosely organized group of sustainability contacts across the Southeast - Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, S. Carolina, N. Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee. The group is a work in progress and serves as a point of contact for those interested in campus sustainability in the region.

Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability (UMACS)
A new organization (est. Jan 2005) to coordinate networking, collaboration, and biennial meetings among higher education administrators, faculty, staff and students in the Upper Midwest - Minnnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, with adjacent states to be added later. Sponsored by The College of St. Benedict and St. Johns University, with support from the Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance.

Green Campus Consortium of Maine
GCC’s mission is to develop an effective statewide network of colleges, universities and partners that will stimulate the continual improvement of environmental sustainability at Maine’s campuses through communication and education.

Michigan Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (MiHEPS)
A fledgling network of campus sustainability actors at colleges and universities in Michigan. Organizers include Terry Link (MSU), Debra Rowe (OCC), Harold Glasser (WMU), Tom Gladwin and Jim Crowfoot (UM), and Gary Burbridge (GRCC).

New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS)
Forty member campuses throughout New Jersey. Projects include: NJ DEP Greenhouse Gas Action Plan (energy reports & action plans from campuses), High Performance Campus Design Handbook, Vol II (endorsed by NJ Presidents Council); and Integrating Sustainability Issues in Undergraduate Curriculum (NSF grant). Special teams on green design, environmentally preferable purchasing, energy, and sustainability education.

Pennsylvania Consortium for Interdisciplinary Environmental Policy (PCIEP)
Comprised of environmental policy makers, universities, and colleges throughout Pennsylvania devoted to improving environmental policy and understanding through government and academic cooperation that encourages interdisciplinary analysis and discourse.

South Carolina Sustainable Universities Initiative (SUI)
A consortium established by South Carolina’s three research universities and subsequently joined by 13 affiliate four-year and technical college members. SUI shares information and fosters cooperation among its members, with the dual purpose of incorporating sustainability into the curriculum and improving each institution’s “environmental footprint.”

Washington Center for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education

Founded in 1985 and based at The Evergreen State College, with 51 member campuses throughout Washington state. Ongoing initiatives include: learning communities; cultural pluralism and academic success for underrepresented students; calculus reform, and quantitative reasoning across the curriculum. The "Curriculum for the Bioregion" initiative aims to better prepare college students to address complex environmental and social issues. Steering committee of 18 faculty and administrators.
